Abstract

From 12 days before farrowing until the end of lactation 9 Large White X Landrace sows were given diets without (group 1 and 2) or with (group 3) 0.04% of a commercial flavour, Zooflavour 6379, a mixture of essential oils and aniline with fractions transferable to milk. The flavour was included in diets for piglets in group 3 from 4 to 60 days old. Piglets were weaned at 22, 14 and 14 days in the 3 groups, respectively. Mean daily gain in piglets was 0.319, 0.301 and 0.357 kg and weight at 60 days 20.68, 19.63 and 23.01 kg. Feed intake was 1.567, 1.671 and 1.484 kg/kg gain.
