Abstract | Piglets, progeny of 30 sows, in 2 groups of 154 and 161, were offered to appetite from 7 days old a commercial complete feed. From weaning to 90 days old piglets were given the same feed. For one group the feed was artificially flavoured by spraying with a preparation "Pig Nectar" immediately before feeding. Average liveweight gain from 7 to 90 days old on untreated or flavoured feed was 300 and 334 g; feed intake/kg gain was 2.08 and 1.95 kg, the differences being significant, and mortality was 9.1 and 9.3%. |
